Fred Smith Company
In March of 2011, Construction Partners, Inc. acquired FSC II LLC dba Fred Smith Company (FSC) to be its North Carolina platform company. FSC, formerly known as CC Magnum, Inc., a long-time asphalt and highway construction company in Raleigh, North Carolina was founded in 1927.
When acquired by CPI, FSC was operating two asphalt plants in the Raleigh market area as well as providing utilities, grading and bridges. They have since purchased two asphalt plants from Blythe Construction also in the Raleigh market. Included in the acquisition of FSC was River Works, Inc., an environmental resoration company specializing in stream and wetland restoration. Fred “Jule” Smith, III, a former owner, continues to lead the company as its president.
North Carolina Platform Expansion
- May 2011 – FSC acquires two asphalt plants in Wake Forest and Holly Springs, NC, both located in the Raleigh market area
