Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc. Acquires the Highway Construction Assets of Lewis Construction Company, Inc.
Dothan, Alabama, September 26, 2011 – Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc. (Wiregrass) today announced the acquisition of the highway construction assets of Lewis Construction Company, Inc. (Lewis) with operations in Southeast Alabama and Southwest Georgia.
Lewis is a highway and site-work construction company specializing in grading, storm drainage, base construction, asphalt production and asphalt paving. Lewis’ primary customers are general contractors, the Alabama Department of Transportation, and local cities and counties in Southeast Alabama and Southwest Georgia.
Lewis operates two asphalt plants located in Henry County, Alabama that provide asphalt to Henry, Houston, Dale, Coffee, Geneva, Pike, and Barbour counties in Southeast Alabama and Early, Clay, and Quitman counties in Southwest Georgia.
This acquisition is consistent with Wiregrass’ strategy of acquiring and integrating highway construction companies across Alabama. With this acquisition, Wiregrass will strengthen its market position in Southeast Alabama where it already has an existing asphalt plant, Division office, and ongoing construction operations.
This acquisition marks the fifth acquisition for Wiregrass in Alabama. It currently has acquired companies operating in North Alabama (Huntsville and Decatur), Birmingham, Montgomery, and Southwest Alabama.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Construction Partners, Inc. Acquires the Highway Construction Assets of FSC II, LLC dba Fred Smith Company
Dothan, Alabama, May 9, 2011 - Construction Partners, Inc. (CPI) today announced the acquisition of the highway construction assets of FSC II, LLC dba Fred Smith Company (Smith) with operations in the Raleigh, North Carolina MSA. Jule Smith will continue on as President of the company.
Smith is a highway and site-work construction company specializing in grading, storm drainage, underground utilities, bridges, base construction, asphalt production and asphalt paving. Smith’s primary customers are land developers, general contractors, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and local cities and counties around Raleigh.
Smith currently has approximately 400 employees and operates two asphalt plants located at Westgate and Knightdale; both in the Raleigh market area.
The acquisition of Smith also includes Riverworks, Inc. (Riverworks). Riverworks is an environmental restoration company that provides the following construction services: stream restoration/mitigation, stream relocation, wetland restoration and creation, bio-retention areas, best management practices, bioengineering, and Installation of sediment and erosion control practices. Will Pedersen and Bill Wright will continue managing the business as President and Vice-President respectively.
This acquisition is consistent with CPI’s strategy of acquiring and integrating highway construction companies across the Southeast. With this acquisition, CPI will expand its current operations with a platform company in the Raleigh, North Carolina MSA.
This acquisition marks the fourth platform acquisition for CPI. Its current platforms C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc., Wiregrass Construction Company, and Everett Dykes Grassing Co., Inc., are located in Florida, Alabama, and Georgia, respectively.

Construction Partners, Inc. Acquires the Highway Construction Assets of Everett Dykes Grassing Co., Inc.
Dothan, Alabama, March 16, 2011 – Construction Partners, Inc. (CPI) today announced the acquisition of the highway construction assets of Everett Dykes Grassing Co., Inc (Dykes) with operations located in Cochran, Georgia, Surrency, Georgia, and Ellabell, Georgia. Financial terms of this transaction were not disclosed.
Dykes is a highway construction company specializing in light grading, soil cement base construction, surface treatment, and asphalt production and paving. Dyke’s primary customers are the Georgia Department of Transportation and the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
This acquisition is consistent with CPI’s strategy of acquiring and integrating highway construction companies across the Southeast. With this acquisition, CPI will expand its current operations with a platform company in the middle Georgia market area.
This acquisition marks the third platform acquisition for CPI. Its current platforms C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. and Wiregrass Construction Company, Inc., are located in Florida and Alabama, respectively.
C.W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. Acquires the Highway Construction Assets Of Hewitt Contracting Company, Inc.
Tallahassee, Florida, March 1, 2010 – C. W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. announces the acquisition of the highway construction assets of Hewitt Contracting Company, Inc and its subsidiary, Superior Asphalt of Central Florida, Inc., located in Leesburg, Florida. Hewitt Contracting is a Florida Department of Transportation qualified contractor that specializes in medium to large heavy construction projects. Hewitt’s subsidiary, Superior Asphalt of Central Florida, Inc., is a construction company that specializes in small to medium site development projects such as subdivisions and shopping centers.
This acquisition enhances CW Roberts Contracting, Inc.’s current operations in Wildwood, Florida. With this acquisition, CW Roberts will be in a better position to compete as a prime contractor on road and site construction projects as a result of the addition of Hewitt’s highly skilled underground, earthwork, and paving crews. Furthermore, this acquisition will complement the CW Roberts Contracting Inc. asphalt plant located in Wildwood.
This acquisition marks the third add-on acquisition for C.W. Roberts in Florida.
Besides the Wildwood operations, C. W. Roberts Contracting, Inc. performs highway and related construction services along the Gulf Coast of Florida from Pensacola to Naples.
